Career GPS Photojournalism Photo II

Career GPS Photojournalism Photo II

By Tabitha Saha & Naomi Deadwyler
Career GPS was a 2 day long college and job fair for middle and high school students. The event was held at Cal Expo. It featured over 150 exhibits and 11 industry sectors. Over the 2 days more than 7500 students attended from middle and high schools alike. I spoke to Ashleigh Stayton, the exhibit coordinator; she informed me that there were a few changes that happened this year that we had not seen in previous years. For example, there is a new app you can download that has information like a list of schools attending and, vendors attending and  a survey you can take based on your experience at the event. I spoke to a student Dallin, who attends Heritage Peak Charter School, he told me that he aspired to be an engineer and came to Career GPS to see what other job opportunities are available. In his words he thought the event was “pretty good.”  Overall this event it was very successful and I had a great time myself capturing these moments and seeing teenagers take control of their future. I recommend that any student who wishes to have a career after high school should attend Career GPS.
